OSHA and ANSI have extensive workplace regulations for eye and face protection for employee safety. Thousands of people are blinded each year from work-related eye injuries. According to OSHA approx 90% of eye injuries in the workplace can be prevented through the use of personal protective eyewear, safety goggles or glasses.
Safety face shields and headgear are required when working in an area where there is a potential for injury to the head from falling objects. Safety helmets are also designed to reduce electrical shock hazard worn when used near exposed electrical conductors. Safety glasses and safety goggles that are often worn in tandem with safety head and face protection gear.
